Our end goal is now clearly in sight…

All our whānau need to register on the Whakatōhea tribal database so you can play a part in our settlement. If you whakapapa to Whakatōhea, then it is your birthright to be a part of this!

To register you simply need to:

  • Whakapapa to a hapū of Whakatōhea
  • Be 18 years or older

1. Why do I need to register?

If you are not registered on the Whakatōhea tribal database you will not be able to have your say on our Settlement when the time comes. This is your chance to be a part of history and help start a new chapter for our iwi. Registering will allow you to vote on the Deed of Settlement and Post-Settlement Governance Entity. It also means you’ll receive key updates as our settlement journey progresses.

2. Am I registered?

You can find out if you are already registered by contacting Lesley McLean at the Registrations office, on 07 315 6150 or by emailing

3. Can I change or update my registration details?

Yes. You can change any details in your registration at any time by emailing Lesley Mclean at

4. Will my information remain private?

Your information will be protected under the Privacy Act 1993.
